Helping organisations get real performance and savings from the building and energy management systems they already have in place.
The BEMS Health Check: a blood pressure test for your BMS and energy management systems!
Quickly assess whether your building and BEMS are fundamentally working as intended
Identify high-confidence issues and immediate quick wins
Determine whether a deeper audit or optimisation is justified - based on evidence, not assumptions
AI Readiness Assessment option - giving you a clear picture of where your building stands on the journey toward AI-enabled performance monitoring, and what needs to change before those tools can deliver real value.
Scoping call - understand your building, systems and priorities
Information request - remote BMS access, key maintenance records and a Letter of Authority to liaise with your suppliers and contractors
Remote BEMS diagnostic - representative sampling across key plant, controls, schedules and trend data
RAG report & debrief - delivered within 10 working days, with a 30-minute walkthrough included.
Requires a graphical BMS with remote access. Best suited to sites with an annual energy spend of £30,000 or more. Standard review covers one BMS headend.
Fee: From £999
RAG-rated findings, covering:
Control strategy performance
Scheduling and occupancy alignment
Obvious energy waste patterns
Clear distinction between:
“Fix now” issues (low effort, high confidence)
Issues requiring deeper review
Explicit recommendation on whether to proceed to next stage around getting things working again.
Your BMS is one of the highest-impact energy use areas in any ESOS assessment.
A BEMS Health Check provides direct evidence of control strategy performance, scheduling effectiveness and energy waste patterns, all of which your Lead Assessor needs.
As a registered ESOS Lead Assessor, I can work alongside other ESOS Lead Assessors and energy consultants to deliver the BMS diagnostic as part of, or ahead of, a Phase 4 assessment.
This BEMS Health Check is often used as:
A pre-audit diagnostic
A handover check when FM team members or contractors change
A sanity check on inherited or poorly performing system
AI tools are only as good as the data they're fed. Most BMS platforms were never designed with AI consumption in mind - poor tag naming, inconsistent trend logging, dead sensors and alarm floods all undermine what any analytics platform can deliver.
As part of, or following, the BEMS Health Check, we assess four things:
Data completeness - are the right points being logged, at the right intervals and what hardware is required to support?
Tag quality & naming - are point names consistent and machine-readable?
Trend configuration - logging intervals, gap rates, historian accessibility
Ownership - is there a named person responsible for acting on AI-generated outputs? What training and skills uploft required?
This service is designed for a site with:
A single remotely-accessible graphical BMS headend
Annual energy spend of approximately £30,000 or more
Clock starts on access confirmation, not instruction date.
At that level, even a modest improvement in control strategy typically pays back the cost of the health check within a few months.
